Fruit Stripe Redux

I maybe dating myself by admitting that my favorite gum as a kid was Fruit Stripe Gum.  It was all pow at the front end and fizz at the back end.  I fell for the let down every.single.time!! It was still such a yummy treat though, so much so that I could devour a pack in a day if left to my own devices.  So, when I ran across this striped top at my local second hand retailer, I had to snatch it up.  It instantaneously reminded me of my beloved childhood treat.

The weather was very warm today so, I decided to try out the top with boyfriend shorts, cargo jacket, wooden beads, flat sandals and my trusty tote.  This look was comfy and I felt very pulled together as I ran about town with soccer teams in tow, etc. Hence, another pose without all of me in it

Bag-Zara, Jacket-old, Striped top-Thrifted, Necklace-Thrifted/gifted, Shorts/old-Kohl's LC Lauren Conrad, Sandals-Thrifted

There you have it a smashed up thrifted, gifted and discounted outfit.  For those keeping track, that is 3 items thrifted/gifted and 3 items purchased at discounted prices= a totally on point outfit that can be worn multiple ways.

P.S. I must say the photos don't do this top justice since you can't see the detail on the sleeve or the zipper in back!  I guess I'll have to restyle it and get photographed at a later date.

Happy HUMP Day!!

  4. YOU ARE IN SHORTS!!! No. this cannot be happening. I am so envious it hurts!!

And your post totally reminded me of my favorite childhood candy. It was kind of gross, it was toffee that was sold in like a flat paper-esque form, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Good thing I'm not pregnant because I just got a SERIOUS craving!

    nice to meet you!

  8. I am so jealous that it is warm enough where you live to be wearing this. I had to make a run to the post office and wore my extra large puffy down ski coat and boots. I think it is -25 or something ridiculous with the windchill here today. Worst winter on record I believe. I will not be running outside like you! Anyhow, you'd leave me in the dust : )

This whole outfit looks super cute. I really like the striped top and choice of necklace. The colours are so pretty together.

PS Thanks for the comment on my blog today. I just wanted to get some feedback about what other bloggers over 40 felt about the whole thing. I hate to think because we are past a certain age our choices have suddenly been cut in half.

  13. Love the colors in your top and YES, you need to some additional photos so we can see the details. Love the Fruit Stripe reference! That was the kind with the striped package and zebra right? (?? Right? Or zoo animal of some kind, but I'm thinking Zebra and that makes sense because stripes...) Anyway, love the outfit and I'm sure it looked fab on you. -Gina
