Love

The love I have for my husband, my children, family and dear friends, all stem from a matchless, perfect love.  This love is so profound, so rare, so pure.  It's the love Jesus has for me and all who would believe.  He is perfect love, that bore the weight of a shameful, fallen world and died a criminal's death though he was completely innocent!!  As we embrace the Easter weekend, I reflect on my Rescuer, Jesus and His love for me and for you.

Happy Easter to you and your families!!

Sweet Treats-Tasty Tuesday

My lovely neighbor who lives across the street shared some delectable treats with us from her work travels.  She often goes to Europe for work and brings us goodies back.  I am like a little kid as I anxiously await her return.  This past trip she shared chocolates and fruit treats with me, the kids and Hubby!  I tend to hoard  hide the chocolates for me and only me.  Does that sound selfish?  No, I didn't think so either! Ha ha.  These chocolates are simply delicious and melt in your mouth.  I usually will have just one because they are that good.  You can savor one and look forward to the next one on another occasion.  I tend to freeze them or stash them in the back, way back of the fridge for safe keeping.  You know, me time, that time of the month and so on.

The children and my Hubby were excited to have the Gummi's and noted that they tasted a bit different from the ones we buy here at our local retailers.  They were delicious and not so sugary as the ones we purchase at our discount stores, etc.  My Hubby is a Gummi connoisseur and was so excited to try the original recipe from Germany!  He already has his order ready for the next trip and of course my order is ready to!  Yummo!  What's your favorite treat, goody or "stash" item???

Gimme A Break

We all could use a little time, respite, rest, moment to just chillax and kick back from all the chaos that is "life" sometimes.  I have been enjoying the kids while they have been home, but by mid afternoon, I need a timeout!! We have what is called "quiet" time, which means we all either read, craft, write, or whatever, for a period of time.  We usually hang together, near or in separate rooms.  I need this time to think, ponder, reflect, meditate, pray, write, dream, etc.  Lately, I have enjoyed these little goodies, not together I might add. I am not endorsing any products here, just sharing my recent faves!

What do you do when you need to hit your reset button?

What are your favorite goodies at the moment?

A Forgotten Treasure

Jade Bracelet, Initial Bangle, Golden Bangle

I remembered something recently, something that meant so much to me a long time ago.  Do you have a favorite fragrance, song, a pair of earrings, or necklace, etc. that means the world to you?  Or marked a specific moment in your life?

Well, for me, that would be the Jade bangle that you see in the picture above.  I remember after graduating college and running away from the big ol' state of Texas, to the other big ol' state of California, to work and begin my "big" girl life, I bought this bangle.  It was after I scored my second of two major jobs, that I had to have this Jade bangle I saw in a shop in LA, where I lived and worked at the time!  This bangle was gorgeous and meant my first real paycheck, freedom, independence!! It also would be a mark in time, a defining moment.  In the Asian culture, a Jade bangle is a very significant possession.  It is adored not only for its natural beauty, but for its healing and protective properties, etc.

Like many things that we hold near and dear to our hearts, it got lost in the jewelry box of life. It was shuffled, boxed and bagged from move to move, state to state.  I recently dug it up and upon sight, it conjured up so many memories from that time.  I will always believe that I truly "grew" up and became a woman in LA.  I learned so many life lessons during that time, like how to survive driving on the 10 (Interstate 10) or the 405!! Yikes, traffic is legendary, but if you can drive in LA, you can drive anywhere!!   I really learned to believe in God with my whole heart.  I was faced with many challenges that I know took a grown woman's faith to withstand.

So, the bangle is more to me than just a lovely piece of jewelry,  it is a constant reminder of my stepping out in faith and growing up.  I have worn it several times, but am careful not to wear it all the time.  I look forward to passing it on to my daughter's one day and sharing with them how well esteemed Jade is to so many and my lessons learned while growing up in LA.

My Little Chicks

Easter Chick Figurines c/o Personal Creations.com

I don't share too much here about my family, but a few details here and there.  So, I was totally surprised when out of the blue, a representative from Personal creations.com contacted me about my blog and my family.   Have you ever heard of them?  They are a part of the same company that sells, Red Envelope, Pro Flowers, Pro Plants, Cherry Moon Farms and Shari's Berries!! I have a monogrammed necklace with the kids' initials from Red Envelope that I cherish and have ordered Pro Flowers before, but I have yet to own anything from Personal creations!!

I selected these cute little chicks that I thought characterized my own "little" chicks!!  When they arrived I wasted no time putting them on the mantle with a little fellow I picked up from my local Habitat store.  Isn't he a handsome fellow?

Thank you, Personal Creations and your staff for sharing these adorable keepsakes with my family.

I look forward to these being a part of our Easter decor for years to come.
Happy Spring!!

Pass It On

" Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children"  Charles Chuck Swindoll

There is never a dull moment in our home full of world changers in the making. We aim to provide a safe place for our children to be expressive and to live their lives OUT LOUD for God.  There is always a saying, catchphrase, rhyme, prayer or proclamation being announced within these four walls.  I never know what will fly from their sweet little lips and of course the camera is never where it should be.  I can not tell you how many pieces of scrap paper and journals are filled with their "isms", questions, and comments.

For instance, I made burgers the other night and my sweet Jeremiah proclaimed that it was the "bomb", then he went even further and said that all my food is, well except one dish I make. Ha!  Then of course the girls had to chime in about their least favorite and so forth.

My youngest daughter speaks in this British accent that turns real Southern, real quick.  My oldest  is musically inclined, so she will break out in song whenever the mood presents itself.  Well that leaves the little big man of the house, he has a funny comment or observation by the minute.

All fun stories aside, we are truly blessed to be able to raise these 3 children that God entrusted to us for a time.  They are all uniquely wired and we see God's light in them on a daily basis.  There is not a day that passes that they don't express compassion for children around the world who are in need or for friends going through a hard time.  They inspire us daily to be better people and parents.  We should model for our children what we want to see in them.  Yesterday at church we were reminded that we need to make sure that we pass the baton to the next generation without fumbling.  The success of their relay race in life will be determined by how well we make the hand off of the baton.

Proverbs 22:6, tells us: Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Prince Charming He Is

This post was retrieved from the archives and was never published.

Jeremiah is a riot!! He is an experience!! He is a sweet ball of contagious energy!! He is a little, yet MIGHTY man of God in training!! A gentleman!! A renaissance man!! He is a MACK!!! He was in his room this morning and proclaimed that "her" hands are warm and soft. I asked him who he was speaking of and he told me the girl he liked at vacation bible school. Then he went on to say that he likes all girls and he was not sure of this girl's name, but every time they held hands, hers were always warm and soft.  Now, if only I can continue to pay attention, pray for wisdom and teach my son and daughters how to wait on God for their princess and princes.

The Painted Mustache

My little sweet 4 year old son loves mustaches. They are his new favorite "thing". He draws a mustache on with a marker almost every morning. He loves his dad and wants to be just like him, hence the mustache.

The other morning he drew one on and asked his sisters if it was on right. Well, it was sort of a halfstache, instead of a mustache!! He then announced that he LOVES mustaches!!

I invite you to live a little through a 4 year old and draw one on!!
