Today while at my Women's bible study we were encouraged to think about how many things we can be thankful for. The inspiration behind this comes from a book by Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts. I have not yet read this book, but I look forward to putting it on the growing list of "must" reads really soon. Perhaps, I might get around to reading this over the holidays while the children are out of school. I really felt inspired to invite my family to jot down what and/or whom they are thankful for everyday. We will collect these little notes and read them on Thanksgiving. If we look all around us everyday, there is a blessing, a gift, God's grace at every turn. We always see the "Big" things, but how often do the "small" things go unnoticed? So, will you take a little inventory to see what you can give thanks for? It might be as simple as, the falling rain, or a bird singing outside your window. This is also a perfect tie-in to the link up going on at ModlyChic. Here is how I began my list:
- My husband's smile
- My children
- Jesus died for me
- My family's love and support regardless of the distance
- My sweet niece who is so joyful
- My children's passion for learning and reading
- Our sweet family dog who thinks he is one of the kids
- The nature I see all around me everyday
- 14 years of marriage; he still thinks I'm the hotness;)
- Our kids still want us to tuck them in at night
- My health and strength
- Friends who will tell me the truth
- Being confident in my own skin
- Watching with awe as the leaves change color and fall
- Freedom to worship God without persecution
- My ancestor's sacrifices as they won freedom
i love the idea of writing down what we're thankful for and reading it at thanksgiving. sometimes we're so focused on getting the food out, going shopping, etc. that we miss the real important things about the holiday!!!

Beautiful list! There's actually a new One Thousand Gifts app, if you have a smart phone, where you can store pics and words of the things you're thankful for. I just downloaded it today. It's really cool!!
